Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins of Man, also called the Cardinal Sins, are the seven greatest immoralities of mankind. They are Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath and Sloth. For thousands of years, the seven sins have manifested as demonic spirits and even gods in their own right. As such, they have become enemies of many beings, including Constantine and Captain Marvel.

Origins[]

Like all deities, spirits and demons, the Seven Sins and their powers began in the hearts and minds of mortal beings, and eventually ancient Homo Magi, giving so much power to their belief in them that they became fully personified beings. For thousands of years these seven had manipulating the emotions of mortals into committing countless atrocities around the world. The seven ruling wizards of the Rock of Eternity, including the Wizard Shazam, chose a new champion, known then as Teth-Adam, to help them fight the seven sins, only for him to be consumed by them, leading him to kill six of the wizards. Shazam was able to fight Adam alone, and managed to banish him to another dimension. Unable to banish the sins however, Shazam trapped them inside stone statues in the Rock of Eternity.
