Samuel "Sam" Kent II is a citizen of Smallville, Kansas. He is the eldest son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and the brother of Diana and Jon Kent. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Sam Lane.

Sam was born in Smallville, a few years after the Injustice War, after Superman resigned from the Justice League and moved back to Smallville, eventually marrying Lois Lane. He grew up with his two siblings, his sister Diana, and his younger brother Jon, named after his adoptive grandfather Jonathan Kent.
